Fuel Fill Hose Replacement

Here is what a 47 year-old fuel fill hose looks like (right in photo).  This came out of my Dickerson 35 CYGNET this week.  I replaced it with a USCG A2 approved hose (1-7/8" diameter).  I had to remove the deck plate, move the holding tank vent hose and cut away some of the seat locker bottom panel for access.  Key to getting the new hose (with a spiral wire embedded) on the fittings was a little Joy liquid on the fittings. I kept a clean rag in tank opening during the replacement process to keep little bits of junk out of the tank.  By the way, the 47 year old monel tank looks like new.

New hose on left.  Old hose on right.
